In 1872 Carl Friedrich Usbeck founded a company for fine mechanics and laboratory supply in Steinbach-Hallenberg/Thuringia. His son Carl Oskar succeeded in establishing an international customer base due to various stays abroad. Accordingly, up to 120 employees manufactured the extensive assortment.
After World War II the company in Thuringia was expropriated. For a new beginning Carl Oscar and his son Carl Friedrich Usbeck chose Radevormwald to build a new production plant – also due to an existing natural gas supply. Furthermore, already existing supplier relationships in the area, well known for its metal processing competence, made the restart easier.
In the post-war period the production was concentrated on the supply of schools, universities, and industrial laboratories. Until today, this remains the focus of our customer base which we deliver via specialized laboratory distributors. Thanks to the loyalty of our distribution partners, our company may today demonstrate its reliability and quality made in Germany in its 5th Generation. Also, thanks to the commitment, the reliability and the talent of our employees our company succeeded in meeting the various challenges during the 150 years of its existence.
